Buy the XM6 if: calls, travel, and the newest tech matter to you.
Buy the XM5 if: you want most of the sound for much less money.
Wait if: you already own the XM5 and it still works fine.
Sony's newest flagship headphones are here, and the obvious question is simple: if you have the XM5 — or you're eyeing its lower price — what does the XM6 actually give you?
Three changes matter most. First, the XM6 folds again. The XM5's flat-only design was the complaint Sony heard for three years, and it's fixed, with a slimmer case for travel. Second, noise cancelling gets a bigger brain: a faster QN3 processor and 12 microphones, up from 8, with clearer calls from 6 dedicated voice mics. Third, Bluetooth 5.3 adds LE Audio and Auracast, and you can finally keep listening while it charges. Battery life stays at 30 hours with noise cancelling on — same as the XM5.
